Mark started playing guitar in his mid-teens and immediately began to combine lyrics with music to create his own songs. Lack of confidence and stage fright meant he resisted playing his music to anyone but close friends and family until the early 90’s when one of his songs came to the attention of a friend, who ran a spiritual sanctuary. That friend asked Mark if he would perform some of his music to an audience at the sanctuary, which, again, he initially resisted but eventually agreed to and started on an adventure which would take his songs to a global audience.

Overcoming his lack of confidence and stage fright, within less than two years of that first public performance Mark found himself performing to an audience of over 6,500 at a global spiritual event called Peace on Earth Day, at Wembley Arena. Having heard his music the organisers asked Mark to compose a song for the event, so he wrote and performed The Power of One. A song which celebrates the power of people and minds uniting as one force to help bring peace to the world. Very much the purpose of Peace on Earth Day. The lyrics were printed in the event programme and it resulted in the whole audience singing along and waving their arms during every chorus as Mark performed The Power of One.

That appearance at Wembley led to many opportunities and requests to perform and in 2001 Mark wrote a song titled The Angel Song for a new event being held in London called World Angel Day. The event, held at Kensington Town Hall, was a huge success, so much so that the following year, in addition to the main event in London, World Angel Day events were held in 17 countries worldwide and The Angel Song, by then re-recorded with The London Community Gospel Choir, was distributed to every organiser worldwide and used as the theme song for the day. Bringing Mark’s music to a global audience. That year Mark performed The Angel Song at the London event and two days later in Los Angeles, the City of Angels, at the US World Angel Day. The song subsequently became the subject of a TV programme, Angels, presented by Gloria Hunniford, and was also chosen to be the BBC Essex Children in Need song in 2005.

The following few years presented many opportunities to perform worldwide, and Mark’s first album, It Whispers Love which features The Angel Song, sold thousands of copies around the world. At one point, the album reached number three in the ‘unsigned artist’ chart. Because of business, family and other commitments, many requests to perform were turned down and eventually, in 2011, due to life, Mark stopped performing publicly, making only the occasional appearance. But between 2001 and 2015 Mark wrote, recorded and released four studio albums of his music and a fifth followed in 2023. That album, Forever, features a song titled The Key, which was selected for inclusion in a US TV series pilot, The Shipment, and played over the end titles. Both the pilot and The Key premiered at the historic Chinese Theatre in Hollywood in July 2023. The album Forever began Mark's move away from the mainly spiritually themed songs of his first two or three albums with songs that were written before, during and shortly after the global pandemic and the various lockdowns, whilst waiting to be able to orchestrate and record. However, there always remains an underlying spirituality within many of the songs even though they may be songs of love, heartbreak or everyday experience.

2026 has been a pivotal year in Mark's music career. Having spent four years writing, composing, orchestrating and recording a new album - Crimes of the Heart - the album has been recognised by a record label/publisher, Sounds Right Records, as worthy of mainstream attention. The new album was released on 28th August 2026.
