Having started in business as a graphic designer Mark retired in 2020 following a successful career, during which he owned a group of media-based companies and one of the largest executive car hire companies in the UK. His business career had many ups and downs including two battles, both of which he won, with Royal Bank of Scotland who attempted to take 50% of his business following the banking crash of 2009. Ironically, RBS subsequently became one of his biggest clients.

On his retirement from business, with a happy marriage and three grown-up daughters, Mark set three major goals; to become a published writer, to play football for England and to become a recognised songwriter. At the time of writing in 2026 his first illustrated, rhyming children’s book has been published - The Tale of Ferdinand Frog - and five more books are in the pipeline. He has played 31 times for the England Veterans football team, including playing in two Veterans World Cups, reaching one semi-final and one final, plus the highly publicised 1966 World Cup Commemorative match against Germany. He's had one of his songs featured in a US TV pilot and has recently been signed as an artist/singer-songwriter with Sounds Right Records and Right Publishing and is awaiting the release of his new studio album – Crimes of the Heart. He has also been commissioned to write the score and songs for a US film to be released in 2027/8.

Mark’s music career began in the nineties. Between 1994 and 2011, whilst also growing his businesses and bringing up a young family, Mark wrote and performed his own music, touring extensively in the UK, Ireland and occasionally the United States. His performances at that time were predominantly at spiritual events, festivals, spiritual centres and churches, his music being aimed at spiritual, new age and environmentally aware audiences. He has recorded six albums of his music and has specifically written and performed songs for a number of large events including Peace on Earth Day (Wembley Arena, 1995), World Angel Day (Kensington, 2001/2/3) and World Angel Day, Hollywood, LA, USA, 2002.

His music has been featured on many radio stations and in 2008 Mark and his song The Angel Song (written for World Angel Day) was the subject of a Sky TV programme, Angels, hosted by Gloria Hunniford. The song was also chosen as BBC Essex Children in Need song in 2005. As part of the World Angel Day events in the early 2000s, The Angel Song was distributed and played globally at 17 events around the world.

Today, much of his music is far removed from those spiritually focused compositions to a more Adult Contemporary and commercial style, aiming to reach and touch a far wider audience.
