About

Mark has been writing songs, poetry and short stories most of his adult life. Born in London and bought up in Essex, South-East England, he is married with three daughters.

Business Career

Mark started his own graphic design business in 1983 which by the mid to late 90’s had grown to a group of media related business, The Page Media Group, employing over 60 staff.

In 2007 he diversified and brought an executive car business, Sovereign Executive Cars, based in London’s Docklands. With the majority of it’s customers being banks and financial institutions it meant that the business was badly effected by the banking crash of 2008/9, but Mark kept the business afloat, fought and won a decisive battle with Royal Bank of Scotland who attempted to take 50% of the business and in 2012 Mark sold the business to a competitor.

During that time, between his media companies and the executive car business, he employed over 400 staff and controlled or jointly controlled businesses turning over in excess of £15m. He remained on the main board of Sovereign until 2017.

In 2020, shortly after the first lockdown he exited the media businesses, is now retired and concentrating on writing and song-writing and enjoying life.

Music

Between 1994 and 2015 Mark wrote and performed his own music, touring extensively in the UK, Ireland and occasionally the United States. Most of his performances were at spiritual events, festivals, spiritual centres and churches, his music being aimed at spiritual, new age and environmentally conscious audiences.

He has now recorded five albums of his music and has specifically written and performed songs for a number of large events including Peace on Earth Day (Wembley Arena, 1995) and World Angel Day (Hammersmith, 2001/2/3). he also performed at World Angel Day in Hollywood in 2002.

His music has been featured on many radio stations and in 2008 Mark and his song The Angel Song were the subject of a Sky TV programme, Angels, hosted by Gloria Hunniford. The song was also chosen as the BBC Essex Children in Need song in 2005.

Although he now rarely performs live he continues to write and record music and in 2023 The Key (from the new album Forever) was chosen to be featured in a US based television series pilot, The Shipment, which premiered at the historic Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

The new album, Forever, along with his previous four albums and a number of other songs are all available to listen to and download or stream on Spotify, Apple Music and most digital music platforms. They can also be listed to via the links below.

Writing

Other than songwriting Mark has been a poet from a young age. He considers the majority of his songs to be poetry set to music. In the early 1990’s he wrote a short poem for his first daughter, Kara, about a frog named Ferdinand which over a period of time became a complete rhyming children’s story of 46 verses of 8 lines each, called The Tale of Ferdinand Frog.

In 2017, planning to retire from business, Mark had the story illustrated by the hugely talented, Mike Church, and started to search for a publisher. After many rejections he finally received two offers to publish The Tale of Ferdinand Frog. Mark decided to work with the publisher Austin Macauley to get Ferdinand Frog out into the world and the book was published in July 2020.

Since writing The Tale of Ferdinand Frog, Mark has written a further 5 rhyming children’s stories, all featuring Ferdinand Frog in some way plus a host of other woodland creatures. The second book in the series, The Tale of Tommy the Tiny Tadpole, is currently being illustrated by Mike Church (who illustrated The Tale of Ferdinand Frog) and will be published in 2023/4.

He also regularly writes other, shorter poems and is planning to publish a collection of those and selected song lyrics at some point.
